Big names to hit the courts tomorrow at the Tennis Wollongong International

Dimitri Vidin (NSW) beat local player Adam O’Shannessy (NSW) in straight sets in the first round of the Tennis Wollongong International. O’Shannessy broke early in the first set to grab a 2-0 lead before Vidin held his nerve to bring it back to 5-5. Vidin broke serve to take out the first set 7-5. He continued to dominate the rest of the match winning the second set 6-2.

Last year’s runner-up and fifth seed Maverick banes (QLD) won the first set 6–3, breaking early in the set to grab a 4-0 lead against Darren Polkinghorne (SA). Banes continued his dominance breaking Polkinghorne in the opening game of the second set and held that lead to close out the match 6-1.

Max Purcell, who earned his breakthrough on the professional tour this year by winning his first ATP Challenger title in Korea in July, continued his great form defeating Scott Puodziunas (QLD) 7-5 7-6(3).

In doubles, former Tennis Wollongong International champions and top seeds Maverick Banes (QLD) and Gavin Van Peperzeel (QLD)were hard to beat, defeating the Taylor brothers 7-5 6-3. Banes and Van Peperzeel were winner’s in 2014 and will face Karol Drzewiecki (POL) and Maciej Smola (POL) tomorrow on court 7, not before 1:30pm.

Wollongong local Blake Mott (NSW) will look to maintain his good form as he takes on fellow Australian Jake Delaney (NSW) tomorrow on court 1, not before 1:30pm. Also in action tomorrow is 2014 Tennis Wollongong International winner Jarmere Jenkins (USA), second match, on court 1.
